The Tap That Dripped
A Film by Simon Dymond

Check out the Trailer via the link below

I co-designed a short film called: The Tap That Dripped, which was Written and Directed by Simon Dymond.

The synopsis in short tells a story of a young boy whose imagination stops him from sleeping at night, only to be comforted by an equally as inventive father, leaving a restless night all round.

The film required Hannah Budd and I to design and dress the set, and also, and here's the best bit.. to create a Cyclops!

The budget for the film was to beg, borrow and pitch in £10 each.

Budd. H, 2011, Set Before Picture
Budd. H., 2011, Set After Photograph One
Budd. H., 2011, Set After Photograph 2
With huge thanks to my BFF Becky and the prop store at Trent College, along with other donators we transformed the above.

The shoot took place over two days, leaving us only an afternoon to dress the Cyclops, this time planning prompted us to work around the basis of a mask.
Having created leather masks whilst working at First Family Entertainment, with thanks to Top Drawer, I had molded the base of the mask. Having based the design on the origin to the myth of the Cyclops, we created an elephant skull inspired design using Liquid Latex and tissue paper.

Teaser Trailer

I co-designed this short again with Hannah Budd, written by Steve Deery, Directed by Simon Dymond.

The short follows the life of a middle aged married couple, Kevin and Mary, Played by Kiki Kendrick and Michael Kenneth Stewart. We based the heart of the home in the Kitchen, and with only a £120 budget, we meticulously planned shot by shot, in order to suggest the house was lived in.

The film was shot over 2 days in an empty suburban house, which meant we had to dress the set per shot in order to make it believable. This type of dressing requires a good working relationship with the director, and working to storyboards.

Here are some before and after shots, and some stills

This was another co-design with Hannah Budd over the busiest weekend! We shot 2 films over 3 days!

This film was shot in a day, and relied heavily on natural light. It was all shot in one room, which I had a lot of fun destroying. I got to practice my photography skills a lot on this shoot, and was very happy with the result!

The story of this short is about a couple who are addicted to Heroin, and the effects. Hannah did a brilliant job as the make-up artist!

This film, by far was my most favourite to film, great Cast, great Crew, Great Film!
